Akashi Data Center — Kazakhstan’s first Tier IV data-center project — will represent the country on the main stage of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Digital Economy Forum in Tianjin, China, on 10–11 July 2025.
The forum is organised by China’s National Data Administration and the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government under a theme of new digital-economy linkages. Akashi’s presence underscores Kazakhstan’s role in Central Asia’s digital transformation and draws Chinese IT companies toward strategic cooperation.
The Astana campus will be the region’s first Uptime Institute Tier IV facility and will effectively double available server-rack capacity in Kazakhstan. CEO Vladislav Minkevich says that creates a digital foundation for economic growth and international business. The project has been linked to up to 10,000 jobs in IT, engineering, and cybersecurity.
“We look forward to presenting Kazakhstan and our project at the SCO Forum — to show how Akashi Data Center is shaping the region’s digital economy,” Minkevich said.
Geography, a stable environment, and the AIFC investment climate make the site attractive for companies diversifying data placement. SCO visibility strengthens Kazakhstan’s infrastructure profile for cross-border digital initiatives.
